Jerome Weeks is the Senior Arts Reporter/Producer for KERA. At The Dallas Morning News, he was the book columnist for ten years and the drama critic for ten years before that. He was an editor and columnist for Austin’s Third Coast magazine, and his writing has appeared in the Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle, Salon, Newsday, Variety and American Theatre magazine.
Jerome has a master’s degree in literature from the University of Connecticut and earned graduate fellowships at Columbia University and the University of California-Berkeley. He has won awards for his radio features as well as his print reviews on literature, theater, music and architecture – including five Katie Awards, three Lone Star Awards and a regional Edward R. Murrow Award.
Among the television and radio programs Jerome has appeared on are Studio 360, Booknotes on C-SPAN and the PBS documentary Sweet Tornado: Margo Jones and the American Theater. He is a former member of both the National Book Critics Circle and the American Theatre Critics Association, and is a current fellow of the Dallas Institute of Humanities and Culture.
