The Big Deal: Dallas Black Dance Theatre Presents ‘DanceAfrica’

Dallas Black Dance Theatre kicks off its 2018-2019 season with its 13th Annual DanceAfrica, October 5-6, at Moody Performance Hall in the Dallas Arts District. The two-day presentation features guest artist Washington, D.C. based Step Afrika!, which celebrates the historic connection between African dance and stepping.

DanceAfrica celebrates the rich heritage and ancestry of Africa. Experience the drums, the movements and the vibrancy of African culture as all five Dallas Black Dance Theatre companies: DBDT, DBDT: Encore!, Allegro Performing Ensemble, Senior Performing Ensemble and Junior Performing Ensemble dance to the lively rhythm, ignite the stage, and touch your spirit.

Also On Saturday, October 6, from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. everyone can enjoy the FREE DanceAfrica Festival at Annette Strauss Square, showcasing community groups and performers in a festive environment for the entire family with vendors, fun, food and main stage entertainment.
