Senior Social Hour

Nicholson Memorial Library System - Central Library

Local musician Matt Tolentino will perform polka music and standard pop tunes from the 1920s to the 1960s at the Nicholson Memorial Library’s upcoming Senior Social Hour. Tolentino takes the stage at 2 p.m., on Thursday, Feb. 28, at the Central Library, 625 Austin St., in Downtown Garland.

Tolentino is a native of Dallas who specializes in popular pre-swing music from the 1895 to 1935 period. He frequently performs at theatres and clubs in Dallas and leads three bands: the four-piece Matt Tolentino Band; a seven-piece group, The Royal Klobasneks; and an 18-piece foxtrot orchestra, The Singapore Slingers.

Sponsored by the Friends of the Library, Senior Social Hour programs are free and open to anyone 55 years of age and older. Donations of gently-used books and media for the Friends of the Library book sale will be accepted at the program. No registration is required to attend the event, but seats do fill up quickly. Doors open 30 minutes prior to the performance. Due to planned construction, event locations are subject to change. Please visit our website, www.library.garlandtx.gov, or call the library for the latest information.  Please be aware that photographs and video may be taken at Library programs for use in print and/or electronic media at the Library’s discretion.
