To celebrate the 30 th anniversary of Sammons Jazz, Arlington Jones & The Brethren honor past Sammons Jazz artistic directors Vicho Vicencio (1989-1996), Roger Boykin (1996-1999), and James Gilyard (1999-2011) and famed visual artist Bart Forbes to mark the release of the “Sammons Jazz Directors Cut” CD/DVD. The recording includes music from the special Sammons Jazz concert performed in December 2017 plus interviews with the artistic directors and others who created and sustained North Texas’ premier jazz series.
Arlington, the Sammons Jazz Artistic Director since 2011 and a Steinway Artist, performs both sets of this momentous concert with Dwight Sills on guitar, Nick Clark on bass, and Brannen Temple on drums. Sammons Jazz is held at the Sammons Center for the Arts, 3630 Harry Hines at Oak Lawn. Tickets are $50 per person and include beverages, a light meal, and valet parking. Doors open at 7:00 p.m.; the concert begins approximately at 7:30 p.m. There are two performance sets of about 40 minutes each with an intermission between. Dress is casual.
