Stakes Is High: Race, Faith and Hope for America


King of Glory Lutheran Church

The Rev. Dr. Michael W. Waters, founding pastor of Joy Tabernacle A.M.E. Church in Dallas, will bring his message of hope and empowerment in the realm of social justice. Waters is an acclaimed author, pastor, professor, community leader and social commentator. He is well known in Dallas and across the country for speaking out on current issues such as diversity, ethical leadership, race, religion and even hip hop culture. He is a Dallas Business Journal 40 Under 40 honoree, SMU Distinguished Alumni Emerging Leader Award recipient, and 2018 winner of the Religion Communicators Council’s prestigious Wilbur Award. 

Waters will speak on his 2017 book Stakes Is High: Race, Faith and Hope for America, which contains narratives of racial violence and offers ways people can live out their faith for the cause of social justice.
