Strong Color

Keller Town Hall

Avery Kelly and Steve Uriegas share their talents as pallet knife painters in the August public art show at Keller Town Hall. The Keller Public Arts program is pleased to highlight their art for this month long event from August 2-30. The larger than average paintings will take your breath away with the bold color and individual subjects.

"Miss Kelly's work centers on the beauty and energy of the natural world. Specializing in oil painting and relief printmaking, she strives to convey a sense of joy and mystery through her work."

"My current style, I coined Angular Expressionism, came by way of trial and error. The most important element of the technique is the use of pallet knives only, no brushes. It's a process that took me a couple of years to develop and at this point I'm very comfortable in it. It's an application that is systemized and choreographed. With this framework in place, I'm provided the liberty to search deeper for new ideas and concepts. It provides a structure I can work within using the canvas as my page and colors as my words. The reason I paint is because it gives me a way to express myself without the absoluteness of words."

Join Avery and Steve for an Evening with the Artists, Thursday, August 10 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Keller Town Hall. Enjoy the music of the Southlake Community Band on the back patio, share refreshments and exchange in conversation around the art.
