Concerts at St. John’s presents a program entitled “The King of Instruments and the Instrument of Kings,” featuring trumpeter Chuck Seipp and organist Randall Sheets, on Sunday, 10 November, at 3 pm. This duo from Washington, D.C., will be performing traditional classical music, as well as transcriptions such as “Rhapsody in Blue” and “Carnival of Venice.” The Seipp/Sheets duo has become known not only for their splendid artistry, but for their programs which blend multi-media and humor. Chuck Seipp, retired from The United States Army Band, “Pershing’s Own,” and currently teaching Shenandoah University Conservatory of Music in Virginia, has performed in national, presidential and historically-significant events worldwide. He has toured and recorded solo trumpet and organ repertoire throughout Europe with world-renowned organist Diane Bish. Organist Randall Sheets has been the Ceremonial Organist for Arlington National Cemetery for 19 years where he performs over 1,000 services a year in the historic Old Post Chapel.
