Aaahh fall! Don’t you just love it? There’s a brisk chill in the air, brilliant changing leaves, and pumpkin spice everything. Of course, to us here at Art&Seek the best thing about fall is the cornucopia of arts-related events going on in our neck of the woods. To help you decide what you’re going to do first check out our picks for this week!
Wednesday
Fort Worth Contemporary Arts at TCU hosts the opening reception of “gendersick.” The show, by London-based artist Jordan Baseman, examines gender fluidity and human experience with compelling and provocative film installations.
Art&Seek Spotlight artists Sarah Reyes and Daniel Driensky are part of a group exhibition showcasing some of DFW’s most interesting photographers. “On North Texas” is on view at the Patterson-Appleton Arts Center through Nov. 24.
Thursday
“IcebergX” by Adam Fung
TCU professor Adam Fung visited the artic to craft a documentary. Now he’s using images from the trip to make detailed paintings of the landscape. His show “Nature” is on display at the Arlington Museum of Art through Nov. 18.
Dallas’ Conduit Gallery hosts the International Rescue Committee for an art auction. The works reflect the experiences of making a new home in a foreign place.
This weekend is your last chance to see Reisha Perlmutter’s exhibition “Undercurrents” at Fort Works Art. The show centers on femininity and the female form.
Friday
WaterTower Theater puts a new spin on Henrik Ibsen’s 1879 classic, “A Doll’s House.” The show is about the sacrificial role women hold in society. It’s onstage through Nov. 4.
The Dallas Symphony Orchestra’s Ruth Reinhardt is a dynamic young conductor. This weekend, she leads the symphony as they perform with renowned pianist David Fray at the Meyerson Symphony Center.
Saturday/Sunday
The Dallas Symphony’s Concertmaster Alexander Kerr and pianist Anastasia Markina team up for a performance at the Dallas Museum of Art. Head there to hear Beethoven and Dvořák, presented by the Fine Arts Chamber Players.
On Sunday, the Kimbell Art Museum screens a documentary about fashion designer Cristóbal Balenciaga and Haute Couture Icons. After the screening, stay and take in the exhibition, “Balenciaga in Black.”
Throughout the weekend, the Edom Chamber of Commerce hosts the 46th Annual Edom Art Festival. The festival, an easy day trip away and includes live music, food, crafts, and fine art.
Monday

The Grammy Award-winning chamber music group Pacifica Quartet performs at SMU. You can catch the concert tonight, presented by the Dallas Chamber Music Society, at Caruth Auditorium.
Artist Frederic Remington’s known for his paintings of the American West. But the Sid Richardson Museum in Fort Worth has an exhibition that shows his reflections on America’s east coast. See “Another Frontier.”
Tuesday
Mexican singer and actor Aida Cuevas has released 39 albums and won multiple Grammys in her 42-year-long career. The beloved Cuevas has been dubbed “The Queen of Ranchera.” See her tonight as she performs a tribute concert to singer-composer Juan Gabriel at Strauss Square in the Dallas Arts District.
In Fort Worth, the Modern Art Museum shines a light on the decades-long career of American photographer Laurie Simmons. In the exhibition “Big Camera/Little Camera” viewers will see how Simmons’ work explores gender roles and domestic life.
