Chicago’s Goodman Theatre has announced that it’s adding The Good Negro to its 2009-2010 season. Of course, Tracy Scott Wilson’s drama, based on the civil rights movement in Birmingham, Alabama, debuted at the The Dallas Theater Center last fall and New York’s Public Theater this spring.
UPDATE: The Good Negro has been nominated for a Lucille Lortel Award for outstanding play (the Lortels honor off-Broadway productions), and the Public Theater production in New York received citations for featured actor and lighting design. The DTC is listed as a co-producer of the play.
