Dawn & Hawkes

Levitt Pavilion Arlington

Transcendent alternative/folk with intimate harmonies

Miranda Dawn and Arlington’s own Chris Hawkes became Dawn & Hawkes in 2012 after a chance meeting on an Austin dance floor. The first time they sang together, they found a sound Texas Monthly called “undeniably intimate.” Their initial duo effort, Golden Heart, climbed to number 25 on Billboard’s Folk chart and landed at number 2 in iTunes singer-songwriter albums, kicking off a whirlwind of cross-country touring performances with influential artists like Alison Krauss & Dan Tyminsky, Patty Griffin, Old 97s, and Robert Earl Keen, and showcases at festivals like Austin City Limits, Folk Alliance, AmericanaFest and SXSW. They appeared on season six of NBC’s The Voice. Acoustic Guitar hails the musicality of their first full-length recording, Yours and Mine, as “impeccable vocal harmonies and instrumentation,” and Huffington Post summarizes their music as “transcendent alternative/folk — you will find yourself craving more from this amazing, dynamic duo.” Their second full-length album, The Other Side, released in July, explores themes of empathy, hope and finding our common humanity.
