Montopolis, Music for Enchanted Rock

Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth

The Music for Enchanted Rock performance features Rip Shaub's stunning landscape photography, audio recordings of the Enchanted Rock legends, and the music of Montopolis which Texas Monthly calls "the great long-lost collaboration between Ennio Morricone and Phillip Glass that we didn't know we were missing."

Montopolis is an ambient classical group from Austin, Texas that performs the works of composer Justin Sherburn.  Their music folds country and folk idioms into modern classical arrangements with inventive instrumentation to create "stunning and transcendent" (Austin Chronicle) concerts.

MuMultimediaresentation has always been an integral part of the Montopolis live performance.  Beginning with live scores to silent films, they quickly progressed to using the interactive slideshows and crowd sourced visual content that has become a beloved part of the experience.  The Music for Enchanted Rock performance features photographer Rip Shaub’s images taken at the site as well as crowd sourced audio recordings.  Sherburn recorded friends and neighbors relating their experiences on the rock as well as historical accounts of the Texas Rangers and Native American legends.  These recordings are woven into the performance itself.
