Mystery writer Chris Abani @ The SDCC

African Diaspora- New Dialogues Once again, South Dallas Cultural Center partners with Wordspace to present a series dedicated to showcasing some of the most exciting and provocative writers and poets within the African Diaspora. We're delighted to first introduce Chris Abani, an acclaimed novelist, poet, essayist, screenwriter, and playwright. Born in Nigeria to an Igbo father and English mother, he grew up in Afikpo, Nigeria, received a BA in English from Imo State University, Nigeria, an MA in English, Gender, and Culture from Birkbeck College, University of London, and a PhD in Literature and Creative Writing from the University of Southern California. He is the author of a dozen books and winner of major literary prizes. Check out his latest novel "The Secret History of Las Vegas", a gripping mystery with some very interesting twists.
