The South Dallas Cultural Center's mission is to provide excellent instruction and enrichment in the performing, literary, media and visual arts emphasizing the African contribution to world culture. Jazz concerts, film screenings, poetry slams,art exhibitions and literary events feature some of the nation's most exciting contemporary African Diaspora artists. Weekly classes allow all who are interested in learning specific artistic skills to hone their creativity in a nurturing, professionally directed environment. The SDCC - featuring a 120-seat black box theater; two visual arts galleries; studios for dance, two-dimensional arts, printmaking, and photography - is one of six cultural centers owned and operated by The City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs, which extend community-based artistic programs to several culturally-diverse areas of the city. The City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs remains dedicated to presenting multicultural services with citywide access.
