Art Conspiracy

Mission:

The mission of Art Conspiracy is to inspire Dallas' art and music scenes to join forces for the benefit of a local non-profit art and/or music organization.

Vision:

Art Conspiracy fosters a sense of collaboration amongst the art and music communities that's galvanized by the goal of community improvement. We provide innovative and accessible opportunities for community members to contribute to unique events and make a tangible difference to our chosen non-profit art and music beneficiaries.

How does Art Conspiracy select beneficiaries?

In 2007, Art Conspiracy executive team members made the decision to support St. Anthony's Community Center after making several site visits and learning about various affordable arts and music programs being provided to children in the Dallas area.

In the future, Art Conspiracy plans to have a beneficiary selection committee to review potential beneficiaries and make a final selection.

Where does the name Art Conspiracy come from?

First, the Art Conspiracy event brings artists and musicians together to "conspire" for the benefit of the local arts scene. Second, there's the historic aspect to it. Our first event was held in the Texas Theater in Oak Cliff, where Lee Harvey Oswald was arrested shortly after President John F. Kennedy was shot.

Our second event was held in the Longhorn Ballroom near downtown, once owned by Jack Ruby ??" who murdered Oswald days after the Kennedy assassination.

JFK-oriented conspiracy theories are a fabric of modern Dallas life, the name Art Conspiracy acknowledges this and also highlights the positive impact conspiracies can bring about.

The Art Conspiracy was set up with the following goals in mind:

1. to bring together a group of dallas area artists and musicians to raise money for a chosen benefit.

2. to provide art to the non-gallery attending masses.

3. to help spark awareness of the local arts scene

4. to use historic, under-utilized buildings as art venues

Art Conspiracy strives to put on guerilla-style, affordable art fundraisers and use the proceeds from these events to reinvest in the local arts economy. By doing this, Art Conspiracy works to unite the Dallas Fort Worth arts and music communities and raise awareness of the local arts scene.

Since 2005, Art Conspiracy has raised more than $34,000 for charities including St. Anthony's Community Center, La Reunion, and The Children's Health Fun. Art Conspiracy is in the process of getting its official 501(c)3 nonprofit status.
