Friends of the Irving Public Library

The Friends of Irving Public Library spreads reading and the love of books in our community by raising funds for library programs, materials such as books and magazines, and resources like databases. They are among the city's most fervent literacy boosters, working hard at author programs, book sales, and the North Texas Teen Book Festival. The annual Friends book sale attracts book hunters from all over North Texas, and the August Teacher's book sale helps stock up local classrooms with inexpensive child and teen reading material.

Over the years these original founders, numerous volunteers, and the current board members have given and continue to give their tireless efforts in support of the Irving Public Library. Thus for over 55 years The Friends of the Irving Public Library have expanded services and opportunities for their members and for the library. The Friends now offer 1st Wednesday of the month book sales for members, preview night at the annual book sale for members, branch book sales to accommodate library customers in all 4 locations, teachers book sale to support books in the classrooms, handle funds for grants, donations, sale of author books at events in addition to an annual pledge to the library for resources and programming.
