The Granbury Historic District "Where Texas History IS," is home to over 50 shops that specialize in antiques, gifts, collectibles, specialty merchandise and clothing. This quaint town has over 18 Lodging Accommodations. Granbury is proud of the many attractions it has to offer. Visitors can enjoy 2 Live Shows (Granbury Live or at the Opera House) a Drive-In Movie Theater, Miniature Golf, 7 Golf Courses, Fishing, and Water Sports.
Dining is no problem in Historic Downtown Granbury since their are 6 fabulous resturants in the historic district alone. Granbury is also home to "Lake Granbury", a massive man-made lake that spans over 8700 acres. Granbury is enjoyed by motorcyclists and old car enthusiasts since it is known for it's many scenic countryside routes.
Granbury prides itself as the town "Where Texas History Lives." It is known for it's history and historic preservation. Granbury was founded in the 1860s. Most of the buildings in the Historic District were built in the late 1800s. Many have been restored and proudly display Historical Markers.
The Downtown Square, the first town square in Texas to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places, has become a prototype for restoration projects all over America. Granbury is rich in history, rich in folklore, and a town where they still tell tales of Davy Crockett and Jesse James. There are eight festivals a year, some with strollers who dress in costumes from various historic periods from the Civil War to the early 20th century.
There is no place like Granbury to enjoy the holiday season. Starting with a grand entrance from Santa Claus the fourth weekend in November in a spectacular holiday parade. The town goes to extremes to express the grandeur of the holiday season.
At the very least, Granbury is a quiet getaway, where the "Good Old Days Are Just Minutes Away."
