Texas Theatre

The Historic Texas Theatre, located on Oak Cliff's historic Jefferson Boulevard, was built in 1931 and originally owned by a subsidiary of Howard Hughes' movie circuit. In November 1963, President John F. Kennedy's alleged assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald, was captured in the theater after leaving the book depository in downtown Dallas.

The Texas Theatre is a historic movie theatre that also hosts concerts, events, and theatrical productions. It boasts a "year-round film festival" approach to programming, specializing in exhibiting 35mm prints both new and repertoire, and features a full bar.

When first opened in 1931, the Texas Theatre was the largest suburban movie theater in Dallas and was part of a chain of theaters once owned by Howard Hughes. In November 1963, President John F. Kennedy's alleged assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald, was captured in the theater after leaving the book depository in downtown Dallas.

In August of 2010, Aviation Cinemas, consisting of Partners Barak Epstein, Adam Donaghey, Jason Reimer and Eric Steele, took over the operation of the theatre.
