The Dallas Opera Guild

The Dallas Opera Guild was established in 1957 to support the newly-founded Dallas Civic Opera Company (as it was then called) through outreach, education, fundraising and service. Our programs and benefits include:

• Adopt-an-Artist: Host a visiting singer, conductor, or set designer during their stay in Dallas for TDO productions
• Guild Trips: A trip to Copenhagen, Denmark is planned in October 2008 for a production of Don Carlo, conducted by TDO's Maestro Graeme Jenkins. A plethora of cultural activities will be included.
• Guilded Notes: Our newsletter for members, mailed to you periodically throughout The Dallas Opera's season
• Opera Guild Boutique: Staffed by Guild volunteers and open during opera performances, this is one of our greatest opportunities for fundraising and outreach
• Opera Insights: Our afternoon discussion with the artists and production team, held the Sunday before Opening Night of each production
• New Members Party
• School Performances: Three fully-staged performances in the Spring for up to 10,000 school children across North Texas
• Season Premiere Party: We kick off each new season in style with a themed social event, dinner, and arias from some of our rising stars
• Special Events: Some of our recent events include backstage tours, previews of the soon-to-open Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House, and our thrilling conversation between The Dallas Opera's John Gage, Director of Production, and world-renowned costume designer Peter J. Hall

• Vocal Competition: Our annual grant program to support talented young Texas singers (ages 18 to 30) as they pursue a career in the opera or musical theatre
