La Convivencia III - Music & Poetry of Medieval Spain’s Christians, Muslims & Sephardi

Dallas Public Library - Fretz Park Branch

They sang together, they played together, their Art and architecture were one and the same. These concerts are a reminder of a time when the three cultures lived together in relative peace enjoying the riches of shared artistic expression. Featuring Michelle Alany on violin, interpreting Sephardic song from al Andalus; Jamal Mohamed Ensemble performing Arabic music; and soloists of the Orchestra performing Cantigas written by King Alphonso the Wise, and Medieval songs of Perotin and Carceres.

It’s a timely look at how different peoples can live together with respect for each other.
