Astraios Chamber Music welcomes everyone to great classical music. At an Astraios concert, you'll hear musicians who have trained at some of the finest institutions and performed around the world. We'll perform works by Beethoven, Mozart, and Bach, but also include music by modern composers and even premiere brand new pieces. We promise you a performance of the highest caliber. But there’s a twist!
We like to say we’re not your grandma’s chamber music. Our host will guide you through each concert, bringing you into the experience. You may find yourself coloring with crayons or sculpting with Playdoh, clapping with the music, or having your name spelled out in musical notation. But the musical performance is still our highest priority.
This October, We're thrilled the welcome Bob Gruca and Linda White back to Texas. Since 2013, the Gruca White Ensemble has been entertaining audiences with their creative programs featuring music from multiple cultures and genres. Comfortable with both written and improvised musical forms, classical guitarist Robert Gruca and flutist Linda White stretch the boundaries of the standard classical concert by including original arrangements of rock, funk, Latin tunes, and free improvisation. "Impressing audiences and critics alike, The highlight of the evening was the set performed by flutist Linda White and guitarist Robert Gruca. Their performance of Chick Corea's landmark composition 'Spain' absolutely sparkled." (Clevelandclassical.com, 2016). The Gruca White Ensemble presents multiple performances throughout the Cleveland area, and has been featured on WCLVs First Fridays live radio broadcasts. Robert and Linda are both graduates of The Cleveland Institute of Music, holding Masters of Music degrees, and currently teach at The Music Settlement in Cleveland, Ohio.
The October 25 performance is presented free of charge as part of the Fourth Friday Concert Series presented by the DeSoto Arts Commission. The concert will be repeated on October 27th at the Old Frankford Church. Please see www.astraiosmusic.org for more information.
