SHARKY’S BAR AND GRILL CELEBRATES 30 YEARS IN BUSINESS WITH AN ALL-DAY BASH SEPTEMBER 1ST

Thirty years ago Sharky’s Bar and Grill opened its doors for business and introduced the Dallas/Fort Worth dining population to its pound of wings, hand-battered chicken fried steaks, in-house smoked brisket that partners seamlessly with quesadillas/nachos and bacon jalapeno poppers, which incorporates the perfect balance of heat and flavor. In honor of this 3-decade milestone, Sharky’s, located at 17453 Preston Rd, is celebrating September 1 with an all-day (11:30am-2am) Bash that will feature live music, 30% off all tabs, raffles, free pool and ping pong.

“We wanted to show our appreciation to our wonderful customers with our thirty-year celebration,” said Gwenna Roberts, co-owner of Sharky’s Bar and Grill. Justin Pickard & Orion Pitts will kick off the live music at 1 pm followed by Acoustic Daredevils 3pm, Wellers Wisdom 5pm and Grand Theft Auto 8:30-12pm. The event is also benefitting the Gary Sinise Foundation, whose mission is to serve our nation by honoring our defenders, veterans, first responders, their families, and those in need.  This is done by creating and supporting unique programs designed to entertain, educate, inspire, strengthen, and build communities.”

Sharky’s has been a local treasured neighborhood haunt since it opened 30 years ago. It has oversized television screens featured within a U-Shape bar area of which promotes the art of conversation.  The imbibing space also showcases 9 regulation pool tables, shuffleboard, ping pong, darts and the most sustaining Happy Hour in town: 11:30 am – 9 pm every day and includes domestic beer at $3.00, wells $2.75, calls $4.25, premiums $5.00 & $5.00 Rex Goliath wine.  And, for a self-proclaimed “dive bar” they boast an impressive wine list.

“I have been in the restaurant business for 25 years,” says co-owner Amanda Burt. My industry experience has run the gamut, but the community that is felt upon entering Sharky’s is why I wanted to be a co-owner.  The September 1st party is all about our customers, who are such a beautiful, diverse group. On any given day, our bar is populated with all ages and walks of life sharing stories from their days. These people have become my extended family and I so look forward to celebrating with them.”

Sharky’s Bar and Grill is owned and operated by Gwenna Roberts and Amanda Burt.  Both women were regulars before they became owners. Each reminisces about nights sitting at the bar in shorts and t-shirts and evenings where they enjoyed a nightcap in formal gowns.
