Roger Shackelford’s photography explores moments that suggest the supernatural among us. These images are informed by his recovery from quadriplegia and a sense of need for the transcendent. Each image is composed of two to eight exposures on a single frame of 120 film using either an 80mm lens, handmade pinhole, or a combination of both. The overlapped images are like a meditation in that they combine timed exposures from different locations and the final image is not seen until the film is processed. Abstract photographs range in size from 10 x 10 to 20 x 40 on brushed aluminum or clear acrylic separated from the wall on backing blocks.
