Object Permanence

Arts Fort Worth

Art Tooth is proud to present Object Permanence; a group exhibition featuring work by Sierra Forester, Shelby Orr, Audrey Travis, and Amy Young. The show consists of photography, sculpture, mixed media, and paintings. The exhibition is curated by Art Tooth staff (Aimee Cardoso, Shasta Haubrich, and Ariel Davis), as part of the Fort Worth Community Art Center Art Collective Residency Program. Object Permanence explores the understanding that objects continue to exist even when they cannot be perceived. Our natural instinct as a viewer of art is to try to figure out “what it is” or sometimes try to “get” what the piece is about. The variety of works, from a light pole covered in nails to partially obscured photo assemblages, reference objects that are no longer visible but the viewer still understands.

Object Permanence will be on display in Gallery 9 at the Fort Worth Community Art Center from August 2-22, 2019, with an opening reception on Friday August 2, 2019 6-9pm.
