Model Railroad Exhibit

Nicholson Memorial Library System - South Garland Branch

The Nicholson Memorial Library System’s South Garland Branch Library hosts a free Model Train Exhibit open to the public Aug. 22 to 24.

The exhibit is co-sponsored by the Spring Creek Model Railroad Club. The exhibit’s layout measures 32 by 40 feet with approximately 300 feet of dual mainline track, seven switching areas, an HOn3 narrow-gauge line, and a 30-foot main switching yard. The models represent many eras of railroading from the 1880s to the present day and operate steam, diesel, freight, and passenger equipment.

The exhibit takes place at the South Garland Branch Library, 4845 Broadway Blvd., from 1 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 22; 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 23; and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24. Knowledgeable hobbyists can share their expertise on how to build and run model trains and answer questions during the exhibit.
