Piano Roots: Chicago to Dallas


Sammons Center for the Arts

The fall season of Sammons Jazz opens with Artistic Director and Steinway Artist Arlington Jones signaling his musical roots with the music of jazz pianists Ramsey Lewis and Scott Joplin. Jones was born in Lewis' hometown of Chicago and now lives in North Texas, near Joplin’s birthplace of Texarkana. Jones is joined in both sets by drummer Marcus Jones and bassist Anthony "AJ" Brown.

Sammons Jazz is held at the Sammons Center for the Arts, 3630 Harry Hines at Oak Lawn. Tickets are $50 per person and include beverages, a light meal, and valet parking. Doors open at 7:00 p.m.; the concert begins approximately at 7:30 p.m. There are two performance sets of about 40 minutes each with an intermission between. Dress is casual.
