Get ready North Texas! The annual celebration and competition of the biggest shimmies and sultriest swaying hips is coming to Grapevine, Texas. The 19th annual Yaa Hall Y’All: A Gathering of the Stars in Texas will turn up the heat as it kicks off its four-day event July 25 at the Grapevine Convention Center, 1209 S. Main Street, Grapevine, Texas.
“In the Arabic language, ‘Yaa halla’ means ‘welcome.’ And we are proud to bring together performers, students, stars and teachers all under a single welcoming event designed to impress and provide that ‘Wow!’ factor for everyone,” says Isis Bartlett, founder and multi-award winning creative director for The Isis Foundation, sponsor of the annual event. “We’ll be handing out awards for rising stars and professional dancers, as well as our newest category – Diamond Divas, specifically for those beautiful and talented seasoned dancers. By day, attendees will immerse themselves in instructional workshops in belly dance and international percussion and music. Dance workshops offer lessons in modern and vintage styles from American Cabaret to Egyptian Raks Sharki, as well as Tribal, Bollywood, by star instructors from around the world: Ansuya, Bozenka, Dalia Carella, Karim Nagi, Colleena Shakti, Meera Varma, Amaya, ShoShannah, Silvia Salamanca, and Kata Maya just to name a few. In the evening, bring the whole family out for four nights of stunning performances and lively competition among the best and brightest belly dancers from across the country and around the world. Thursday and Friday nights feature competition for The Yellow Rose of Texas Rising Star and Professional categories for solos, duets and troupes in both cabaret and fusion styles. Saturday night’s Show of Stars will feature the Yellow Rose competition winners, as well as powerful performances from Yaa Halla’s internationally acclaimed star instructors. Sunday’s performances will showcase the talents of local and visiting dancers from around the United States, Latin America and Canada, and, again, Yaa Halla’s belly dance and drum star instructors.
