Six artists of the Botanical Art Collective of North Central Texas have been invited for a more in-depth exploration of their work. Fifty-five to sixty paintings will be on display; from the classical botanical art of Melanie Campbell-Carter and Samantha Peters; to the contemporary style of Jennifer Gillen and Denis Benjamin; the vibrant, dramatic floral paintings of the nationally celebrated and award-winning Soon Warren; and the unique art of Roberta Smith using pressed and dried flowers. Each artist explores the beauty of the plant kingdom in their unique style, creating an awareness of the importance that plants play in our lives.
The exhibit runs in the gallery at the Botanical Research Institute of Texas from July 12th to September 13th. There is a public opening reception on Friday, July 12 from 5:30-7.30 p.m., with an opportunity to meet the artists. Another reception will take place on Fall Gallery night, September 7th.
Paintings of mushrooms (The Fifth Kingdom - by Denis Benjamin) will also be on display in the Welcome Center at BRIT.
These galleries are open to the general public from Monday to Friday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
