The Dallas Opera is extremely proud to announce that, after an absence of nearly six decades, one of the world’s incomparable opera artists will return to the company where he made his 1961 U.S. opera debut. Plácido Domingo will appear in concert, for one night only, on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 in the Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House at the AT&T Performing Arts Center, conducted by Music Director Emmanuel Villaume. Tables are on sale through Dallas Opera Special Events Manager Tracy Mott ([email protected]). The VIP Table experience gives opera patrons the opportunity to enjoy a pre-performance reception, as well as an elegant post-performance dinner prepared by Wolfgang Puck Catering, at which Mr. Domingo will be an honored guest. Single tickets for this once-in-a-lifetime celebration with The Dallas Opera Orchestra will go on sale to the general public on December 1, 2019. Tickets to hear Plácido Domingo in his first appearance on the Winspear stage automatically include complimentary access to a post-performance After Party.
“There may be great artists, opera stars and a few genuine superstars; however, there is only one Plácido,” says Ian Derrer, The Kern Wildenthal General Director and CEO. “He has had the longest, most varied, and successful opera career imaginable and his profound influence on the culture cannot be overstated.
“Plácido has made believers out of people who never thought they could be moved by opera. He has mentored and encouraged generations of opera artists and captivated lovers of this art form with legendary performances,” Derrer adds. “We are so pleased to bring him back to Dallas, where his debut helped to establish our incredible legacy.”
