Adult Spelling Bee

Think you’ve got what it takes to out-spell your fellow Garland citizens? Show off your skills, win prizes, and earn bragging rights at the Nicholson Memorial Library System’s Adult Spelling Bee, held at Downtown Garland’s Intrinsic Smokehouse and Brewery at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 7.

Interested participants may register in teams of no more than four at the Central Library beginning Monday, June 24, or at Intrinsic Smokehouse and Brewery the day of the event. Teams will be given a word and allowed to consult with their teammates for 30 seconds before signaling the bee judges that they are ready to spell. Each correctly spelled word will result in one point. Incorrect words will result in the loss of a point. The first team to reach ten points will win. The first, second, third, and last place teams will receive prizes.

The Central Library is located at 625 Austin St. in Downtown Garland. Intrinsic Smokehouse and Brewery is located at 509 West State Street, also in Downtown Garland. Please be aware that photographs and video may be taken at Library programs for use in print and/or electronic media at the Library’s discretion.
