Music and the Sacred: The Intersection of Liturgy, Music and Theology

Belmont Village Senior Living Turtle Creek

Music and faith have long been powerful influences on culture. How has religion been shaped by music? How has music been shaped by religion? Hear a Christian and Jewish perspective from award-winning musicologists Dr. Yossi Maurey, Chair, Musicology Department at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and Dr. Assaf Shelleg, Senior Lecturer, Musicology Department at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Drs. Maurey and Shelleg will share insights on the use of Psalms in music, music in the Bible, and the role music plays in liturgy and theology.
Presented by American Friends of the Hebrew University.
