The evening of dance will feature four dances for stage and screen, three of them premieres, by the Jordan Fuchs Company, including Fuchs first solo performance in three years, a new three-screen multi-media video installation, the relentless physicality and exciting partnering work of his latest quartet and trio, and Landscape without Horizon a videodance of engaging gravitational incongruities that has already been presented at numerous international festivals, including Light Moves Festival of Screendance, Limerick, Ireland; Festival Agite y Sirva, Oaxaca, Mexico, and The Seoul Dance Film Festival of South Korea.
Formerly based in New York City the Jordan Fuchs Company is a project-based dance company, based in Denton, Texas, devoted to realizing the creative vision of artistic director Jordan Fuchs. Committed to the craft of choreography and to the unmediated, expressive capacity of the human body in motion, Fuchs delights in the dancemaking process, the obsessive tinkering-in-the-garage process of working with his collaborators in the dance studio, crafting experiences, complex and multifaceted. His choreography has been hailed as “magical” by Jennifer Dunning of the New York Times and been presented nationally and internationally. Fuchs is an Associate Professor of Dance at Texas Woman’s University. www.jordanfuchs.org
