Summer Art Camp: Take the Cake (Ages 9-12)

Dallas Museum of Art

July 8-12, 1:00-4:00 p.m.

Ages 9-12
Teacher: Jennifer Sheppard

Do you have a sweet tooth? Dream of dessert? Swap your canvas for a cupcake and your paint for frosting in this mash-up of The Great British Bakeoff and a master art class. Explore color theory by mixing frosting, craft a donut worthy of an Impressionist painting, create a sculpture good enough to eat, and wield your frosting tip like a paintbrush. You'll make masterpieces—traditional and non-traditional—that take the cake, and every camper will receive a cake decorating kit that can be used again and again. Please note: This camp will focus on cake and cookie decoration only (not baking), but will involve food handling. As such, campers with severe food allergies are encouraged to attend one of our other camps.

*This camp requires an additional materials fee of $20 per camper to cover the cost of the cake decorating kit (52 pieces).

$230 public, $195 DMA Member; tickets go on sale March 2 at 10:00 a.m. DMA Members may register early on March 1.

Lunch Bunch (limited to 6–12-year-olds)
Summer campers who are registered for a morning and afternoon camp on the same day are invited to stay for a one-hour supervised lunch. Please bring a sack lunch that does not require refrigeration.
