This painting class explores art making in a physical, kinesthetic way involving rhythm and movement. Inspired by music and the abstract paintings of Jackson Pollock, campers will go with the flow and create their own expressive compositions by dripping, slinging and making movements like a conductor to cover their canvases with paint.
Instructor: Cynthia Anzaldua
(Visual Arts/Mixed Media/Sculpture)
Rock around the clock while building an original 3D musical creation based on a six string acoustic guitar or an electric version – or invent a hybrid for your own design. Papier mâché techniques and dazzling paint will make your instrument sparkle and shine. The sky is the limit with music & art!
Instructor: Teresa Parsons
(Visual Arts/Printmaking/2D Design)
Rock ‘n’ roll imagery such as guitars, favorite bands, etc. will be the inspiration for campers to create a drawing for their handmade prints. After carving their original design in a block, students will use traditional printmaking tools and colored inks to transfer it onto paper as well as to create a custom designed T-shirt.
Instructor: Kimberly Black
Inspired by classic rock tunes, campers will utilize hand drumming, percussive instruments and electronics to explore and build rhythms. Students will collaborate to compose their own rock grooves and vocals in this fun, hands-on class setting.
Instructor: Len Barnett
Inspired by our summer’s camp theme, dancers will explore music and dance moves from the expansive era of rock ‘n’ roll while learning the fundamentals. Class includes warm-ups, progressions and combinations. Comfortable clothing and closed toe shoes are recommended. No sandals or flip flops, please.
