CLASS #3 (1 – 3 P.M.): WRITTEN, CARVED & PAINTED IN/ON STONE

(Visual Arts/Drawing & Painting/2D & 3D Design/Sculpture/Art History/STEAM)
Stones have been a part of art since the first artist created the first work of art thousands of years ago. Cave paintings and carved “Venus” figures, petroglyphs and cairns, marble and bronze sculptures, stone temples and relief carvings all use different kinds of stone. Even the first forms of writing – hieroglyphs – were carved in or painted on stone. Projects in this class will include recreating animal cave paintings, writing names in Mayan and Egyptian hieroglyphs, making paints, creating stone and metal relief sculptures and creating cairns from rocks and recycled items.
Instructor: Robert Batson

CLASS #4 (3 – 5 P.M.): ROCK ‘N’ ROLL MURAL PAINTING

(Visual Arts/Drawing & Painting/2D Design/STEAM)
Campers will select imagery of legendary rock and roll performers incorporating visual styles and musical symbols of that era. These iconic figures will then be transferred onto large canvas panels. Using bold strokes and explosive colors, students will paint a mural guaranteed to rock our world!
