Printmaking as an art form has been around since prehistoric cave dwellers used their hand as a stencil while they blew paint onto the cave walls. Prints essentially are made by transferring ink from a surface (a wood, metal, or stone plate or a stencil) that has been carved, drawn, engraved or etched with chemicals to a piece of paper or other material using pressure. Campers will learn the basics of printmaking to make a relief print using their own drawings or abstract designs to create a master plate from which multiple images are produced by hand. Finished prints can be framed or used a cover for journals.
