WHAT’S A PERFORMANCE RESIDENCY?
This week-long performance residency with the professional actor/educators from Compass Creative begins with guiding campers through a no-pressure group audition on Monday. Rehearsals begin that day and by Friday, they’re ready to perform an original 60-minute musical adaption of the beloved children’s classic, Beauty & the Beast.
WHAT’S THE STORY?
The week of Theatre Camp #2 culminates in a full-scale musical production of Beauty & the Beast. As their beloved books disappear off the shelves, Beauty and her team of local librarians embark on a quest to rescue them from the city sewers. There they find the Beast and his henchman searching desperately to cure the curse that has transformed them all into animals. Amidst dancing pigeons, ticklish books and enchanted blue roses, Beauty and the Beast learn that it’s only by working together that they can save the day.
PLEASE NOTE: In addition to spots for up to 75 Performers, there are 5 slots available for campers 13 and older to register as Technicians for the week of the August 5 – 9 Performance Residency. Technicians will learn how to operate light and sound for rehearsals and the final performance. They will also participate in all other theatre arts workshops and activities during the week, but will not perform on stage for the show. Their important role will be working behind the scenes, helping make the magic happen!
