The University of Dallas Beatrice M. Haggerty Gallery is proud to announce the group show Of a Feather featuring artists Kathy Boortz, Isabelle Du Toit, Billy Hassell, Mark Messersmith and Melodee Ramirez.
The exhibition showcases the rich relationship between birds and the artists who love them. Birds have long held a prominent place in art: physically they fascinate with their visual beauty, flight, music and dance, and symbolically they function as harbingers of death, keepers of secrets (“a little bird told me”) and, like the dove, bearers of peace.
This spring exhibition celebrates a very contemporary expression of the unique coloring, exciting patterns and distinctive silhouettes of these winged creatures.
The exhibition will run April 5 – May 5, 2019, with the opening reception on Friday, April 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be artist talks in the gallery on Wednesday, April 24, at 6 p.m. with refreshments served from 5 p.m., please note the Gallery will be closed April 18-22 in observance of Easter.
