AIR Time Featuring Textile Designer Mili Suleman

Alamo Drafthouse - Richardson

This AIR Time interview presented by AIR (Arts Incubator of Richardson) features KUFRI founder and designer Mili Suleman. Mili, born in Mumbai, India and raised in Oman, graduated from Texas Christian University and practiced graphic design for nearly 10 years. Yearning for something more complex and tangible, Mili decided to jump into the world of interior textiles. Falling in love with the craft of handloom weaving, she designed a handwoven collection from scratch. With scant knowledge of weaving, Mili found village artisans in India who bring her designs to life.

Today, KUFRI is synonymous for natural, sustainable textiles, and A-list designers have become fans of the wabi-sabi nature of the brand. Mili lives in Dallas, Texas with her husband.

This evening’s movie selection is THE DARJEELING LIMITED (2007, R, 1h 31m), directed by Wes Anderson, and starring Owen Wilson, Adrian Brody and Jason Schwartzman. In this adventure/comedy/drama, three brothers traverse India en route to visit their mother following the death of their father. Filial conflicts arise creating strife and surprises. All of their efforts to reconcile their own relationships are realized once the reconnect with their mother.

7 p.m. – interview moderated by David Fisher; 7:45 p.m. - movie

Tickets are $5, but include a $5 food/beverage voucher. Reserve your seat in advance through the Alamo Richardson ticket site or purchase the evening of the event.
