"Naturescapes" an exhbition of original oil and acrylic paintings by Sherry Houpt

"Naturescapes" by regional artist Sherry Houpt is exhibited at the Box-Hawkins Gallery at Royal Lane Baptist Church, located at 6707 Royal Lane, Dallas, from April 1 to June 27. Public receptions are Friday, April 12, 6-8 p.m. and Sunday, April 14, 12:15-1 p.m. 

"Naturescapes" is a collection of original oil and acrylic paintings that reflect Houpt's bold vision of the desert mesas in northern New Mexico, the imposing Rocky Mountains, and the misty woodlands of Texas. Passionate about nature, Houpt often brings bird images, both realistic and metaphoric into her work. Houpt, know for her compelling plein air and studio works, mixes strong and nuanced color into visual storytelling. Rich symbolism imbues her images in a variety of mediums, including oils, acrylics, watercolors, lino-cuts, collages, and photography."Sherry exemplifies someone who truly lives life as an artist. Please see Houpt's website at www.sherryhoupt.com.The Dallas based artist's work has been selected for numerous juried exhibitions including the Bath House Cultural Center, the Latino Cultural Center, art galleries, private collections and commissioned pieces. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of North Texas and has taught Art to students with learning differences at the Shelton School for more than three decades. Houpt serves in the Nasher Sculpture Center's Teacher Advisory Board and as an art juror for the North Texas Business Council for the Arts.
