Experts Talk on the Carter: A Snapshot of Fort Worth Photography

Amon Carter Museum of American Art

Did you know that the Amon Carter has one of the largest collections of photography in the country? Zoom in on how the Fort Worth photography community is playing a role in the medium today with experts Ted Forbes and MacKenzie Hughes! Experts Talk on the Carter (etc.) is a new lecture series where thought leaders in various fields turn their eye to works in our collection, helping us see art in new ways through the lens of their own work and passions.

The second etc. lecture this spring features Ted Forbes, a local photographer and filmmaker. Forbes produces the successful YouTube channel The Art of Photography, which includes the popular Artist Series Project. The Artist Series is an ongoing project of short documentaries on the great living photographers of our generation, including Keith Carter, Laura Wilson, and William Wegman, artists that are represented in the Amon Carter’s collection.

MacKenzie Hughes, the General Manager of Fort Worth Camera and collector of rare cameras, brings a business perspective to the conversation. Under Hughes’s team leadership, Fort Worth Camera has been at the forefront of innovation within the photo imaging industry by pioneering programs such as the Fort Worth Foto Fest and the Fort Worth Camera Ambassador program. He is also the host of the podcast Fort Worth Camera Radio.
