Ariel Bowman

Ro2 Art is proud to present Wondrous Creatures and the Prehistoric Circus, a solo exhibition featuring sculptures by artist Ariel Bowman. The show will run from March 8 through April 6, 2019. There will be an opening reception held Saturday, March 16, from 7-10 p.m. at the Ro2 Art Downtown Pop-Up located at 1508 Commerce Street in Downtown Dallas.

Wondrous Creatures and the Prehistoric Circus, Ariel Bowman’s inaugural solo exhibition at Ro2 Art, reimagines prehistoric creatures through distinct sculptures contrasted with eighteenth-century aesthetics. The time period suggested in her work alludes to a chapter in history marked by an amplification in scientific discovery and the increasing disappearances of wild places. Growing up playing in the forests by her childhood her home and fascinated by animals, Bowman fosters this childlike imagination and relationship with the animal world in her work through the use of unexpected timelines surrounding her mysterious giants. Reality is disarranged as these extinct creatures wander through overgrown remains of human greatness. Ariel Bowman’s sculptures entice the imagination of viewers through intricate and surprising details, awakening a sense of discovery.
