Sangmi Yoo and Taryn McMahon: Secret Garden

Arts Fort Worth

Secret Garden is a two-person exhibition by Sangmi Yoo and Taryn McMahon, to be held in conjunction with “Texchange”–Southern Graphics Council International conference to be held in North Texas in March 6-9, 2019. Secret Garden is a place where synergetic energy is intertwined through a collaboration of the two artists whose practices are based on print media and installation.

The installation of these elements will be three-dimensional conversions of layers of paper cuts and digital/hand-pulled prints, with the shadow plays. The lights and cuts on the paper project intricate lights and shadows onto the gallery walls and space. As the materials suspend and drape from the ceiling in different directions, these shadows expand, contract and distort in various ways. As a whole, this exhibition will intertwine two artists’ world views as to how seemingly natural representations around us are fabricated in such a way to make us believe in certain systems and ideologies.
