Richardson Storytelling Festival 2019

First United Methodist Church - Richardson

Who doesn’t love a good story, especially when shared by a skilled storyteller? AIR (Arts Incubator of Richardson) and Read Play Love (RPL) have collaborated in the production of a Richardson Storytelling Festival. The objective of the Storytelling Festival is to use the power of story to create bridges among audiences, generations, cultural themes, and art disciplines.

Discover the historical significance as well as modern day implementations of storytelling as a valuable tool in education as well as society. The Richardson Storytelling Festival will celebrate storytelling in our community and shine light on the need for recognizing the stories that each person has. Stories illuminate the past, connect us to the present, and inspire our future.

Award-winning storyteller Decee Cornish headlines the events of the festival, which involve multiple performances, presentations, and workshops.

Through the invitation of The Eisemann Arts Innovation Initiative, AIR (The Arts Incubator of Richardson) and Read Play Love found one another and discovered a synergy that is very exciting and holds promise beyond this Storytelling Festival.  AIR’s mission is to provide the Richardson community with a facility and resources for nurturing artists and innovative thinkers; and igniting a spirit of creativity that permeates our entire community. Read Play Love’s mission is to empower children through the arts and create an inclusive culture of love.

This project is funded in part by the City of Richardson through the City of Richardson Cultural Arts Commission, Texas Commission on the Arts, and the Ann and Charles Eisemann Arts Innovation Initiative.
