Adult Workshop: Nested Accordion Books with Wandering Book Artists

Oil and Cotton Creative Exchange

Nested Accordion Books
Saturday, February 23, 12-2:30 p.m.
Location: 817 W. Davis Street #110
Instructor: Peter and Donna Thomas
# Students 4 - 10

This workshop will explore the exciting world of the artists' books. Participants will
be given instruction in basic bookbinding techniques while making a small format
accordion book. The nested pop-up accordion fold book structure was
developed by Peter and Donna Thomas. It features two layers of accordion pages
that appear to weave in and out of each other. Advanced students may have time
to put text in their books and will want to come prepared with a short 4-10 word
quote to work with. All materials will be provided, but students may want to bring
their own papers to substitute for those provided. This will be a fun and informative
workshop and students will go home with two completed books

The Oil and Cotton and Wandering Book Artists will provide students with:
a glue brush
bone folders/burnishers
scissors
12-inch metal ruler
awls/needles
pencils
cutting mat,
break off blade mat knives

PVA Elmers Glue

*You are welcome to bring your own tools, decorative paper, paints, watercolors, pens, rubber stamps, etc. to illustrate and add text to your books. You might also want to bring images and small objects to collage.
