MARASCA / CJ Boyd / Sybil / Mike Soto

MARASCA
Marasca is a new duo from Sedimental label head, radio DJ and turntable collage-ist Rob Forman (aka Walter Wahl Karpetting) and Liz Tonne, well regarded for her extended vocal improvisational work since the late 90s. Marasca is an all instrumental project that strives to create a rich, immersive, organic sonic sphere using an array of instruments both traditional and non with a goal of time suspension and slight unease.

CJ Boyd
Bassist turned vagabond C.J. Boyd uses bass loops and voices in order to try and stop time. On perpetual tour since March 2008, movement and stasis are both at the center of his music. Weaving together improvisation with a sparse, minimalist aesthetic, Boyd creates waves of sound, worlds of provocative unlived memories through a singular approach to the upright bass and electric bass guitar that makes everything near and far.

Sybil (Denton)
Sybil is voice, electronics, sampling, and electro acoustic sounds. Her sounds are fantastic and interestingly meditative live. A veteran of the the DFW underground music scene that you will be sure to appreciate live.

Mike Soto is a first generation Mexican-American, raised in East Dallas and in a small town in Michoacán. His current manuscript uses themes from the ongoing drug war taking place along a fictional U.S./ Mexico border town. The manuscript can be described as a Narco Acid Western told in forty five poems. It is written in lineage with Alejandro Jodorowsky's film, El Topo.
