New Exhibitions by Roberto Munguia, Soomin Jung, and Hidenori Oi

Conduit Gallery

Conduit Gallery will open three new exhibitions by artists Roberto Munguia, Soomin Jung and in the Project Room, visiting artist from Japan, Hidenori Oi.

Dallas-based Roberto Munguia's body of work contrasts strong black and white with glorious color, both realized with abandon and joy. In the liquid graphite drawings, a structure is established through the movement of the artist’s hand, not dictated by a preconceived architecture, but through being attuned to an inner rhythm and cadence.

San Antonio-based Soomin Jung's drawings focus on the mystery, wonder and even fear we have for the magnificence of natural formations. Caverns, lakes and canyons are special places.

Sculptor Hidenori Oi will be visiting from Japan with a selection of his small stone sculptures and lithographs. While there is an implicit precariousness in his work, Oi aims to create stability within this instability, the components of his sculpture exerting equal force upon each other.

Opening reception for the artists: Saturday, January 12, 2019, 6-8 p.m.
