Realizing the Dream Healthy Living Expo '19


African American Museum of Dallas

This event is a way to promote Healthy Living habits by having discussions on financial literacy, vendors, authors showcase, health screenings vegetarian displays, natural hair pavilion, yoga, weight loss, Food demonstrations, Entertainment, Voter education, College scholarships seminars, Elderly help, veterans services and so much more!  

Also, there will be a Sweet Potato Pie Baking Contest entries must be delivered to the Helen Giddings Solarium on the main floor of the African American  Museum at Fair Park located at 3536 Grand Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75210, promptly at 9 a.m. on January 21, 2018. Each entry must be labeled with a creative name for the pie, the contest category and any food allergies ( nuts, etc.) in the pie and /or crust, and designate whether the pie's crust is homemade or store-brought. Entries in the Diabetic- Friendly category must also include the type of sweetener used in the pie on its; label. Please use disposable pie pans, as event organizers will not be responsible for personal food containers. There will be a minimum of three judges.  Pies will be judged on the following criteria:  Taste, Crust, Overall Appearance each judge will assign a numerical value between 1 and 10 in each of the above- mentioned criteria. The maximum score per entry is 30. The pie the highest total numerical value will be the winner in that category. In the event of a tie, a special guest judge will judge those pies a second time to determine the winner. Judging will take [lace at 12:00 noon. Winners will be announced after all judging is complete and awards will be presented. Pies will be sold by the slice following the contest and proceeds will benefit the Don't Believe the Hype Foundation, a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization.
