Eddie Saenz live at Opening Bell Coffee

Opening Bell Coffee

Eddie Saenz is a Singer/Songwriter from Edinburg, TX, whose music rides the (sometimes nonexistent) line of Country and Americana, whilst being geographically pinned as a Texas Country artist.

Having been exposed to the sonically magical power of the guitar at 8 years old, he would go on to perform Merle Haggard's "Mama Tried" a few years later at his 6th Grade talent show. Met with a thunderous encore from his peers, the stars aligned and a never-ending hunger for the stage and a song had begun.

He moved to Nashville, TN to attend Belmont University at 18, studied with some of the finest musicians and songwriters the institution had to offer, and worked his way into the abyss of writer's nights and open mics. A casually released 2013 self-titled EP would garner hometown success and two song placements in the independent film, “Dixieland”. After graduating, working with the then ABC television show "Nashville" for 4 seasons, and having several short stints with industry managers and publishers, he moved back home to Texas where the opportunity to remain authentic seemed most obtainable.

His recent June 2017 album "17 Hours", named for the drive time from Edinburg to Nashville, captures the moods and stories of those years spent living in between home and Tennessee. Lyrically, the album shines best on songs such as, “Hometown” and “When I Was Young”, biographical accounts of the hardships of living at home, and all that happens when you leave to live a life separate from it. Sonically, the album carries the torch of traditional twang with strong doses of overdriven guitars, lending itself towards the ears of today’s Texas Music listeners.

Saenz, now 25, currently tours the state of Texas and then some, constantly searching for that feeling that sparked within him long ago at that 6th Grade talent show. Whether in a honky-tonk or a listening room, the weight of the songwriting is what carries his performance and turns his live show into what he describes as a 90-minute “3 a.m., front porch hangout with close friends over some beers.”

Undoubtedly honest, authentic to the core, and a self-proclaimed carrier of the torch of traditional country music values -- Eddie is on a steadfast pursuit to make his mark on the Texas Music genre. Armed with an arsenal of signature country sounds and carefully crafted songs grounded in capturing the human condition, it’s clear to see that he paves his path with matters of the heart, and walks on it with the utmost integrity.
