Adult Workshop: Leather Tooling

Learn the basics of leatherworking. Sheridan-style decorative leatherwork is a distinctively American craft traditions, with deep roots in Texas. This class will teach the traditional techniques to turn a strip of raw hide into a finished piece of wearable art.  Students will cut, tool, and dye leather - with a focus on patterning using a mallet and metal stamps. Students will create cuff bracelets and coasters that they can finish in-class and take home. Pattern making and pictorial carving will be demonstrated. Patterns will be available, or you can create your own from scratch.  Scott's classes tend to fill quickly, early registration is recommended.
