Kites are thought to have been introduced to Japan during the 8th century when they were used to assist in lifting and carrying objects. As time passed, kite making became a popular art form, as kites were used for celebration and expression. Inspired by Japanese kites, artist Jacob Hashimoto has been using simplified kite forms in his art installations since the mid-90s. Join us to make and decorate a Japanese-style kite and get flying!
